Our Story

Savi originally opened in 2005, with the mission of serving Skagit Valley businesses and professionals. Its first branch in Burlington served as the headquarters until 2019, when operations moved to Mount Vernon. Today, Savi serves Skagit, Whatcom, Island, and San Juan Counties with 10 full-service branches and 2 loan offices – all while remaining deeply committed to supporting the communities they call home.

In March 2024, we announced the merger with Harborstone Credit Union, and in September 2025 all Savi branches opened as ‘Savi, Powered by Harborstone Credit Union.’ As we work toward fully operating as Harborstone Credit Union, we’re excited for the expanded opportunities this partnership brings to our members. Both Savi and Harborstone share a strong commitment to community, local service, and helping their members achieve their financial goals – making this partnership a natural fit. 

Harborstone Credit Union began in 1955, serving airmen at McChord Air Force Base with a $5 share. In 1996, it opened membership to all Washington residents. Since then, Harborstone has grown through partnerships with other credit unions and now operates 15 branches across the Puget Sound.

  The original SaviBank Burlington Branch was opened

• July 2006

  The original SaviBank Bellingham Branch was opened.

• April 2008

  The SaviBank Mount Vernon branch opened in a temporary building while construction took place next door for a permanent location. The new building was completed and opened in fall of 2008.

• May 2013

  The SaviBank Anacortes Loan Production Office was opened.

• July 2014

  The SaviBank Oak Harbor Loan Production Office was opened.

• March 2016

  The SaviBank Freeland Loan Production Office was opened.

• March 2016

  The original SaviBank Oak Harbor Full-Service Branch was opened.

• April 2017

  The original SaviBank Freeland Full-Service Branch was opened.

• October 2017

  The SaviBank Bellingham branch was relocated to its current location.

• January 2019

  The SaviBank Mount Vernon College Way Branch was opened.

• March 2019

  The SaviBank Sedro-Woolley Branch was opened.

• March 2019

  The SaviBank Burlington Branch was relocated to its current location.

• May 2019

  The SaviBank Oak Harbor Branch was relocated to its current location.

• September 2019

  The original SaviBank Anacortes Full-Service Branch was opened.

• October 2019

  The SaviBank Concrete Branch was opened.

• May 2021

  Acquired the Coastal Community Bank Branch in Freeland and relocated the SaviBank Freeland branch to that location.

• May 2022

  The SaviBank Friday Harbor Loan Production Office was opened.

• September 2022

  The SaviBank Friday Harbor Full-Service Branch was opened.

• December 2022

  The SaviBank Orcas Island Loan Production Office in Eastsound was opened.

• May 2023

  The SaviBank Barkley Loan Production Office in Bellingham was opened.

• December 2023

  The SaviBank Anacortes Branch was relocated to its current location.

• September 2025

  The purchase transaction of SaviBank was completed and all SaviBank branches temporarily opened as Savi, Powered by Harborstone Credit Union.
